The Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation Presents Le Cirque Ball

I was asked to participate in the Markham Stouffville Hospital's annual charity gala on April 1st, this year's theme being Le Cirque Ball. I provided 1000 of my cake lollipops in 4 different flavours. The nights colours were red, gold and white so we coordinated the chocolate colours with flavours that would match the theme of the night.

Flavours included: Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon and Carrot Cake Lollipops.

All funds raised that night benefited the expansion of the Markham Stouffville Hospital. It was a great night, with a great turnout for an amazing cause and I was blessed to be a part of it.

We created a fondant F to place on top of the cake for the birthday girl's initial and a sparkly 10 on the bottom tier. We also created matching water bottles and zebra imprinted star cookies to give out as favours!

This cake and cookie combo was created for a surprise 60th birthday! The theme of the party was "Still smokin' at 60" and was reflected in the cake by the jimmy choo pump and chanel purse. The cake was three tiers and its flavours were vanilla with vanilla cream filling.

The cookies were vanilla sugar cookies shaped as shoes to match the cake and were decorated in black, red and leopard print to match the colour and theme of the cake. The cookies were individually packaged and handed out as favours to all attending guests.

Iron Cupcake Christmas!

Iron Cupcake Christmas which was put on by For The Love of Cake, was just as fun this time around as it was for Halloween. For this contest, I created Santa's Bake Shop with a mini oven (with a working in it). I received many compliments about my design, however the lack of support I had there compared to other competitors was unmeasurable. (However, Thank you so much to the six of you who did come out to support me! It was greatly appreciated!!!)

There were amazing competitiors once again, so here is what the day looked like...

Since competitor #1 was a no-show...we started with #2 (which was me!)

My set-up included hardwood floors, an oven (with a working red light bulb to make it seem as if the cupcakes were baking), a conveyer belt which displayed 4 cupcakes "waiting" to go in the oven, a cooling station, and a packing station. Everything Santa would need in his bake shoppe! My competing flavour was chocolate candy cane.

Halloween Dessert Table {Madison's First Birthday}

This dessert table was created for baby Madison's first birthday and since it was a halloween themed party, we decided for that to be the basis of the table. We wanted to convey a girlie feel to the table so the colour palette chosen was Purple, Black and White, with hints of Green.

I included a two tier cake with bats and a sparkly number one on the top tier. The flavours included tuxedo cake with vanilla buttercream.

Both vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and purple and black fondant dots were placed on either side of the table, along with chocolate cake lollipos covered in purple chocolate.

The entire table was DIY including the tissue paper pom poms courtesy of the one and only Martha Stewart, and the cookie hanging trees made by collecting branches from outside and placing them in black baskets.

The cookies hanging from the trees had three different designs and were alternated on two trees.

These were the cookies in their packaging before getting boxed and ready to go that day.

This is the chalkboard pumpkin that made its appearance half way through the party. It was made by painting chalkboard paint on the pumpkin and letting it dry according to the package directions.

This order was for 25 pumpkin shaped sugar cookies with decorated faces. I tried to alternate faces by making three different designs on the vanilla sugar cookies.

These are them individually packaged with personalized labels I created.

Women's Post Fashion Show

I have been so busy preparing for all my Halloween desserts this week, however I recieved an opportunity I could not turn down. I was asked to help cater a fashion show hosted by Women's Post on behalf of the Women of Baycrest. The show took place on Thursday October, 28 and was at the Capitol Event Theatre on Younge St downtown.

I created around 300 cake lollipops in three different flavours; chocolate, vanilla and carrot. The overwhelming response I recieved from them was amazing and greatly appreciated. I was so shocked that I ran out of my product in less than 2 hours (before the show actually began!)

This is my logo that was displayed as a sponsor on the website.

I met a lot of great people last night who gave me a million compliments, so thank you once again.

50th anniversary cake

I was asked to make a cake for a 50th wedding anniversary this weekend. The customer gave me creative freedom on the cake design but seeing how it was such an important milestone, I chose to go the classy route.

I created four sugar roses painted with edible 10 kt gold and gold leaves to match. The cakes flavours were chocolate with vanilla buttercream, and vanilla with vanilla buttercream.

IRON CUPCAKE: Toronto (Halloween)

Today I competed in my first ever cupcake competition. It was called Iron Cupcake and put on by a cupcake shop downtown called "For The Love of Cake." I was not sure what to expect, seeing as how this was my first competition ever, so I went the simple, yet classic route and created a pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese frosting.

We were able to set up a display showcasing our inspiration with a large version of our "mini cupcakes." I decided on a fall theme, to showcase the pumpkin flavour, while others focused more on the Halloween aspect.

These are my cupcakes for the display, with an orange fondant pumpkin.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

I received an order for baby shower cupcakes for a baby boy. We decided on using a "tiffany blue" colour pallette, so the design came out to be blue gerbera daisies with white centres on both the regular and mini sized cupcakes.

Three "special" cupcakes were also created for the top tier of the cupcake tower. Two were baby shower inspired with a baby bottle and bib, and the third was a yellow sunflower for a guest celebrating their birthday.

The flavours were vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream.

This cake was made for my dad's birthday, who belives that his garden is just as important as his children. He dutifully waters and takes care of it each and every day and makes sure eveything is neat, tidy and in place. I thought this cake would be fitting seeing as how it is him sitting beside a part of his garden.

I included a fondant figure of my dad alongside a tomato plant in a pot and cabbage, carrots and lettuce in a miniature garden setting. The cake flavours included lemon cake with vanilla buttecream and raspberry preserves.

Today is my grandfather's birthday and to celebrate I created a cake to remind him of back home in Italy. My mother's family lived in a small town in Puglia where they lived in houses called Trulli. These odd shaped houses are an icon in and around the city and it is common for people to own more than one.

This Tiffany box was created for a 20th birthday. I covered the box in the signature tiffany blue colour and created a fondant pouch and pearl bracelet to place on the board as well. The flavours included chocolate with vanilla buttercream.

This DJ turntable cake was for a DJ named The Beat Monkey, who's logo is the monkey on the record. He is best known for his geek glasses so those were asked to be placed on the cake as well. The flavours included chocolate cake with ferrero rocher filling and chocolate buttercream. I also included 24 personalized water bottles with the beat monkey logo on them.

This cake was created for an accountant who is retiring and moving back home to P.E.I. Peggy loves cats, so it was only fitting to create a cake that captured her accounting skills, love for the beach and cats.

The cake flavours were tuxedo cake (chocolate and vanilla) with vanilla buttercream. The cake included fondant seashells, cat, barrel of money, and peggy holding a calculater.

I recieved a text yesterday from the b's sister to ask if I could help her decorate a cake for her friend's mom's birthday and some cupcakes because her friend had cousins coming from out of town. I of course agreed and we got to decorating today and decided we were going to do a gerber cake/cupcake combo.

The cupcakes are red velvet cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and red and white gerbera flowers.

The cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant and purple gerber daisies. This was my first time spelling out happy birthday in Croation so we double and triple checked the spelling before placing on the cake.

Breast Cancer Dessert Table

This dessert bar was created for a breast cancer fundraiser put on at La Primavera Banquet Hall, in Woodbridge. Beacuse the theme of the fundraiser was "Think Pink", the dessert bar included a variety of pink candies and coordinated desserts. It included chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing and chocolate breast cancer logos, vanilla cupcakes with pink fondant gerber daisies. and vanilla and chocolate cake pops.

Three Retirement Cakes

After being a teacher for too many years to count, my mom is finally retiring, and to celebrate I created cakes for each of the three teachers retiring this year.

I recieved an order for a Glee cake and was instantly thinking of ideas on how to portray the feeling of the show, so being a major gleek myself, I decided to create the cheerleading uniform on the bottom tier and a stage on the top tier, with the famous Glee sign made of gumpaste sitting on the top of the cake.

I've had a super long week preparing for my cake tasting party that was this afternoon. I prepared 5 dessert tables, each with a specific theme or colour scheme and based the cupcake flavours and table design on them. I did a total of 12 cupcake flavours for people to try and included cake bites, cake pops, and sugar cookies along with fruit and candy for each table.

This is the fruit inspired table. The cupcake flavours were Carrot with Cream Cheese Frosting, Vanilla with Mango Cream Cheese Frosting and Chocolate with Orange Buttercream. I also included lemon cake bites.

This table is the candy inspired table and the cupcake flavours included marble cupcakes with fondant and vanilla cupcakes with hazelnut buttercream. I also included personalized chocolate bar wrappers.

The next three tables were colour inspired tables. For this blue and red table I decided to stick with a nautical theme and created a red and blue nautical dummy cake, banana blueberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and chocolate cupcakes with mint buttercream. I included personalized water bottles and candy bags.

This table was inspired by the colour pink and included a pink gerbera dummy cake, monogram sugar cookies, vanilla cupcakes with embossed fondant and lemon cupcakes with raspberry cream cheese frosting. It also included vanilla and chocolate cake pops.

This last table was a white inspired table and included a three tier white and grey damask patterned cake, vanilla cupcakes with white embossed fondant, vanilla cupcakes with coconut buttercream, vanilla cake pops and white chocolate rosettes.

I would like to especially thank my family and friends for their ongoing patience and support because without them, today would not have been possible.

This cake/cupcake combo was created for a 21st birthday as well. The shopping bag cake is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and the makeup bag cake is made of chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. The makeup was made of fondant so everything was edible.

The gerbera cupcakes were chocolate with vanilla buttercream topped with white gerbera daisies with colourful centers.
